Valentine's Day is the most romantic day of the year, and here in Asheville, we have no shortage of ways to spend it with your significant other.

Whether you want to celebrate your love indoors, outdoors, or from your suite at The Residences at Biltmore - or even if you'd rather skip the lovey-dovey parts of Feb. 14 altogether and try something a little less traditional, we've got ideas for you!

Biltmore

February may be the best time of year for a visit to Biltmore. Not only are the crowds lighter, but it’s also when admission prices are at their lowest.

The Biltmore Gardens Railway, a model train made of leaves, bark, twigs, and other botanical elements, includes replicas of train depots from across the country. Hurry and visit if this is a must-see for you - this train is leaving the track after Feb. 15.

You don't have to wait until spring to get your flower fix, because the Winter Orchid Display features more than 1,000 plants in the Conservatory until the end of March.

Public Displays of Affection

One World Brewing is hosting musicians The Fritz for 2 sets of love songs and a food truck for an outdoor Valentine’s Day party. The event takes place on Feb. 13 from 4-8 p.m. and admission includes an entree from the Umami food truck and a One World beer.

Decorate Valentine’s Day cookies during a class hosted by Three Eggs Cakery at Catawba Brewing’s South Slope location. The Feb. 9 event is already sold out, but there is another one on Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. You’ll learn how to decorate cookies, and take a dozen cookies home. You MUST buy tickets in advance at the link.

Get all the girls together and celebrate Galentine’s Day Feb. 13 from 2-5 p.m. at Catawba Brewing with an Anti-Valentine’s Day Smash Event. They’ll provide all the plates, glasses, bowls, porcelain, and more for your anger-venting enjoyment. They’ll have Mardi Gras food specials, as well as their King Cake Pastry Stout. Proceeds raised will go to local charity, Pandemic of Love Asheville. It’s sure to be a smash!

Virtual

Each year, Greta the Groundhog makes an appearance to check out her shadow at Chimney Rock Park. This year, she’s getting a virtual debut on Chimney Rock’s Facebook page on Feb. 2 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Tune in to see how much longer we have to endure winter!

Clear the chairs from the floor and enjoy a Zoom dance party with Fiesta Latina on Feb. 13. A DJ will spin Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Reggaeton club hits beginning at 10 p.m. Visit the link to buy tickets and join the party.

Give Local Love

Local Asheville shops are offering some special deals for Valentine’s Day, too. Asheville Tea Company has 4 different gift boxes for mailing or giving in person. Varieties include a Chai box, a “Tea for Two” box, and they each include a personalized Valentine’s Day card. Plus, all shipping is free during the month of February.

French Broad Chocolate has several Valentine’s gift sets for local pickup or to ship. Each set is beautifully packaged, and some of the chocolatier’s most unique and popular items are featured, including bonbons, raspberry white chocolate macadamias, flavored chocolate bars, and more.

Hi-Wire Brewing is offering their Chocolate Raspberry Sour Smoothie just in time for the romantic holiday, as well. Also new this month is the 10W-40 Imperial Stout, brewed with blueberries, cinnamon, cacao, vanilla, and lactose. Both of these sweet beers are available at any of the taprooms or from their online shop.

The Hop Ice Cream Cafe’s West Asheville Creamery is offering curbside pickup of heart-shaped ice cream cakes. Order one through their online store.

If you want to send or present a full sampling of all Asheville has to offer to your valentine, Asheville Goods is the place to go. Gift boxes are curated with the best the city offers, from munki nuts, Asheville Pretzel Company, SilverMoon Chocolates, Gourmet Chip Co., and more. Orders are available for curbside pickup or to ship.
