Cataloochee Ski Area
Cataloochee is located at 1080 Ski Lodge Rd. in Maggie Valley.
With an elevation peak of 5,400 feet, and a top vertical drop of 740 feet, Cataloochee is a thriller of a ski slope. There are 3 Expert runs, as well as 15 less-challenging trails. The resort makes its own snow, so there's plenty of time in a season to catch some air.
The rates for lift tickets vary, depending on the day, time, and length of visit. They may be purchased at the resort or on the Cataloochee website 24 hours in advance. Discount lift tickets are available for children 5-12 years old, and children 4 and under and adults 70 and older are free. Active military members pay the children’s rate with a valid ID.

A “Tube”-ular Alternative to Skiing
If you’re not a skier, but still want to play in the snow, Cataloochee’s snow tubing attraction, Tube World, is only 4 miles from the ski area and offers hours of fun for the whole family. It’s $30-$35 per person for an hour and 45 minute-long session. Reservations can be made online, or take your chances with first-come, first-served at the location.
Please note that tubers must be at least 42″ tall, and only tubes provided by Tube World may be used.
